Two newcomers claim Hawthorne City Commission seats in low-turnout election
Jonathan Franklin defeated incumbent Tommie Howard for Seat 1 with about 61 percent of the vote, while Ronald Cobb won Seat 3 over Silvia Ardley with roughly 75 percent, giving the Hawthorne City Commission two new members. Only 189 residents cast ballots in the Tuesday election. Both winners have been described as Gen Z candidates.
