Trenton man killed in early-morning hit-and-run on State Road 26

A 30-year-old Trenton man identified as J.C. Derrick was found dead on State Road 26 in Gilchrist County after an apparent hit-and-run around 1 a.m. Saturday. Florida Highway Patrol discovered the pedestrian lying in the roadway with fatal injuries. The investigation remains open and the vehicle involved has not been identified.
