Volunteers place flags on more than 1,100 veterans’ graves at Evergreen Cemetery

Volunteers of all ages gathered at Gainesville’s Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday to place flags on the graves of veterans as part of a Memorial Day tradition. Organizers noted that more than 1,100 veterans are buried at the site, and participants emphasized the importance of the gesture for those whose families can no longer visit.
